The Three Mariners

Friday 27th August
The return of The Two Fat Cyclists 'fatter than ever' to the old stomping ground that is The New Three Mariners, Laugharne. A first set of new songs had a mixed reception: an 'ambitious' rendition of The Band's 'The Weight' was received with mild applause and Damien Rice's Volcano was met with a stunned silence.

The Second set comes along and all hell is let loose as words are forgotten, chord sequences of genuine 3 chorders are lost in the cataclysmic aberration that has been advertised as live music. Like a rabbit in the headlights of a 3 chorder Phil crumbles under the expectation of the drunken throng. Andy is berated by the barmen for pinching Phil's words and both entertainers exit stage right to the safety of the snug.

Phil 'the comeback' Jenkins digs deep and after a serious team talk from his manager (Ping Pong) he walks proudly back on stage and wins the crowd over with storming renditions of 'Purple Rain', 'Jolene' and 'Can't take My Eyes off You '.

'Superb', is the comment that flashes up from the very drunk 'Ant's Hill Mob', as Phil concludes a roller coaster of a night with an unforgettable 'Hotel California'.

£60 collected for the N.S.P.C.C.

Thanks
