Iechyd Da Extravaganza

BFGUL Goes Electric @ Iechyd Da

The TFC and Big Fat Gay Uncle Lyndon (BFGUL) played at the fabulous Caffi Iechyd Da in Jacksons Lane, Carmarthen last night. Tanya the owner who holds regular monthly open mic nights offered to put a TFC only charity gig for us as part of our Canolfan Plant Sir Gar fundraising.

After a hasty practice in the afternoon, two pizzas and a litre of Chloroseptic for my raw throat we started at 8pm with BFGUL opting to go down the electric route a' la Mr B Dylan and pulling out the pretend Dave Dearnly strat accompanied by the obligitary silly hat. Around 40 paying guests had come along. We hit them with a mix of obscure Americana, some singalongs.

An even more obscure two part half time quiz followed consisting of 20 general knowledge questions, then 20 ukelele bass line intros in a guess the song affair which would have been really great if the big man (Andy) could have remembered which notes to play and in what order they came. A quiz that will go down in the annals of history as one of the hardest and never to be seen again! Unfortunately we left the organisation and scoring of the quiz to Gethin 'the hairy toed Hobbit' Jones. It was a doomed enterprise from the outset!

Tanya produced some great food for us - a mixyblob organic curry with accompaniments. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, as there were sureties of making the next gig at The Three Mariners, Laugharne from all concerned (Friday, Februrary 24th)

We ended on our crowd pleasing version of can't take my eyes off you after which BFGUL who is now known as Cinderella, immediately unplugged the second strat of the night, shouted his customary 'Tarraraa' and dissapeared into the night before his 11 o'clock curfew.

A great night by all accounts and we even inspired Mr Huw Roberts to go home and drag his old guitar out.

We also raised £255 in the process so thanks to one and all for coming along and supporting us and the charity.

Keep on screetching - Pork Pie
