“Just a few acoustic bands, some friends and family, a BBQ and a couple of beers”, Andy `The Fracture` Edwards had said; but those who know him know he doesn’t do low key events.
A couple turned into 10 bands, 100+ revellers and an all day musical extravaganza at Morfa Bay Adventure’s Crow’s Nest facility this Halloween.
The day got underway at 2pm with Ian Frog’s Yasgur’s Farm. Fresh from a sell out gig at the New Three Mariners in Laugharne supported by Two Fat Cyclists the previous evening the farm played 10 songs in their opening set of this inaugural PAMFEST.

After the Yasgur’s it was the turn of the Starcross Lovers, Iannis and Eoghan the banjo. For the purposes of clarity I have been asked to point out that only one half of the band is from Starcross and they are not lovers either apparently. “Nothing like that going on here”

Next up were Humble Hybel who hail from Aberystwyth, they performed a great hour long set of original acoustic music which the crowd loved. They were followed by Ceri Mile End from Llanddowror.

John Wright & D W Griffiths (Meurig) were next on the bill. Unfortunately DW is still operating on British Summer Time being a native of Llanmiloe and arrived fashionably late. In the interim John was joined by John Mile End on harp ahead of DW’s arrival. John Mile End then played a quick set with Mr Huw Balti.

Fiddle and Banjo
Fiddle and Banjo were up next with three quick tunes. Something of a hastily convened ensemble, a truly `for one night only experience` possibly with Jackie on fiddle, The Fracture on bass (seated) and Phil the Goat on banjo.
The Yasgur’s did a second set and then on came East Wallian power duo The Spam Daggers. The Daggers line up was Big Fat Gay `Howling` Uncle Lyndon and The Ginger Diaphragm (Gareth from Narberth). Up tempo power rock got everybody up and dancing and the night suddenly had the feel of a stadium concert.
The Daggers first set was cut short by The Fracture who wanted to bring on The Frank Jenkins Experience. Uncle Lyndon’s wife, Aunty Fran with several tins of Strongbow on board was having none of it though. “Is that it” she screamed, The Fracture hands up with palms facing forwards in a pleading, don’t hurt me please sort of pose promised another set to end “they can headline”. This seemed to placate the Bow monster for the time being.

The Frank Jenkins experience (minus Frank) with DW Griffiths on percussion continued the up tempo feel of the later part of the event. Lead guitarist Keef `dodgy digit` Rudd recently lopped orf the tip of his pinkie on his fret hand in a bizarre tree felling incident. Several hours of re constructive surgery and 10 weeks of physio and special treatment from wife Gale have seen a remarkable recovery and all digits seemed to be working to order.

No show for Welsh Capitals Uber couple - `HENLOWRI` at Pendine Acoustic Music Festival this weekend
Pendine oligarch and music impresario Andy `the fracture` Edwards, 49 yesterday announced to friends and fellow musicians via his MSN that virtuoso rock mandolinist Henry `The Kitten` Jones will not now be appearing at this weekend’s acoustic musical extravaganza at the resorts premier location, The Crow’s Nest, Morfa Bay (www.morfabay.com).

`The Fracture`, 50 said that Jones, 33 had said to him earlier in the week that he was `itching to get his instrument out and caress it during the event`, particularly if he’d be allowed to do it between Big fat gay uncle Lyndon 46, and Ginger Gareth from Narberth 44.

Idol Jones, 36 had said his long term partner and business handler Ms Lowri Lloyd-Hughes had initially been `fairly warm to the idea of PAM FEST` but had advised him late in the week that `people from out of town were visiting with them this weekend`. Some delicate, high level negotiations had taken place in an attempt to rescue the situation but the fracture, 51 had said that `in the end the stronger man had won`.
`The Fracture`, 53 went on to say on the web that he knew little more than this other than to add that unnamed `sources` close to the leading couple had said that Billy Idol Jones 38, had been dreaming for weeks of overlaying some intricate rock mandolin over some of Lyndon, 48 and Gareth’s, 47 art.

He had also hoped to slot in with Ian `Frog` Jones, 56 and his new folk super group `Yasgur’s Farm` and had been developing some Phrygian, mixolydian fusion jazz scales that he thought would fit in with Ian’s unusual musical style.
The Yasgur’s front man Frog, 58 of no fixed abode, London is known to enjoy using some unusual musical keys and sometimes employs several in a single piece.

The Pendine Acoustic Music Festival is on. The Crow's Nest Arena at Morfa Bay Adventure Centre is the venue for the massing of a lot of mediocre below average music in aid of Diabetes UK. 
Todays event was under some initial doubt after an earlier aborted walk along the beach at Pendine with Mrs Mao. After only 100m of the walk `The Back` was moaning and not up for the challenge and Mrs Mao took a dim view of the lack of effort Chairman Tung was putting in and declared "if you can't do 100m with me along the beach, your not going cycling with Pork Pie"....
While Mao as can be seen in some of the photos didn`t make too much of an effort in the satorial stakes (no change there then), Pork Pie can be seen exhibiting the new high quality merino wool Two Fat Cyclist's jersey kindly supplied by Shutt VR.
Without the focus of the bike due to Andy's accident Phil has decided to take up some new personal challenges as he tries to overcome his fear of heights and maybe eventually get on a Single Pitch Award Training Course to develop his individual skills of climbing.
Yesterday I had the cast off my leg. I will now need to two shoes!
